Storytime Basics
  The Children's Department runs storytime programs 52 weeks a year, with special sessions offered seasonally. Children of all ages are invited to attend. Check our calendar or call the library at (203) 262-0626 ex. 110 for details and registration information.

   
   
Drop-in Stories & PJ Storytime
  Drop-In Stories are offered every Monday morning at 10:30 and PJ Storytime every Thursday evening at 6:00. All ages are welcome and there is no registration required. 30 minutes of stories are shared and then the children are invited to do a craft.
   
   
Seasonal Storytimes and Ongoing Programs
  All of our other storytimes require registration and are offered four times a year (Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall).
   
Mother Goose Time
  For infants age 3 to 12 months. Babies and their parents or caregivers gather in the program room to share Mother Goose rhymes, songs and fingerplays. As space is limited, registration is required.
   
Babies and Books
  An interactive program for babies aged 12 to 24 months and their parents or caregivers. The Librarian shares short books, songs and finger plays. As space is limited, registration is required.
   
Storytime for 2 year olds
  Offered four times a year for six week sessions. Parents and caregivers are invited to join their two's for 30 minutes of theme based stories and songs in our program room. The children then go to the craft tables to make a craft that relates back to the storytime theme. As space is limited, registration is required.
   
Storytime for ages 3-5
  children are invited to listen to stories and sing songs with the Librarian in the program room independently and then have their parents and caregivers join them for a craft that relates to the theme of the stories. Children should be able to sit independently to attend this storytime session. As space is limited, registration is required.
   
Page Turners Booktalk
  Meets the third Wednesday of the month. A different book is chosen and read in advance of the meeting, along with a craft and a snack. This group is for children in grades 1-2. Registration is required for this program.
   
Book Buddies Booktalk
  Meets the fourth Wednesday of the month. A different book is chosen and read in advance of the meeting, along with a craft and a snack. This group is for children in grades 3-4. Registration is required for this program.
   
Snacks & Stories Girls Booktalk
  Intended for girls in grades 4-8. The girls all read the same book and discuss it with the Children's Librarian on the first Thursday of the month at 4:00. Registration is required for this group.
   
Rocket Readers Boys Booktalk
  Intended for boys in grades 4-6. The boys all read the same book and discuss it with the Teen Librarian on the second Monday of the month at 4:00. Registration is required for this group.
   
Jr. Wizards Science Club
  Intended for kids in grades 4-6. Kids will perform science experiments and use critical thinking, and occasionally get messy. They meet with the Teen Librarian on the third Monday of the month at 4:00. Registration is required for this group.
   
Chess Club
