The Junior Friends of the Southbury Library are volunteers from the 4th to 12th grade. They meet on the first Thursday of each month at 6:00pm.
At every other meeting the Junior Friends assist in the Children's and Young Adult Departments helping out. Duties include book shelving, holiday decorating and craft activities.
On alternate months, the Junior Friends enjoy movie or game nights and holiday celebrations. In June they have an annual mini-golf tournament.
The Junior Friends also provide service to the community through bake sales, read-a-thons, and book sales. They have contributed to the American Red Cross, women's shelters, the Southbury Food and Fuel Banks, Ronald McDonald House, St. Vincent de Paul shelter, Animals for Life and wounded veterans.
Joan Stokes, Children's Librarian/Assistant Head Librarian and Heather Szaley Aronson, Teen Librarian/Reference Librarian are the adult supervisors. |
