DESCRIPTION:This program will also be streamed to our Kingsley Room. Regis
ter here if you want to watch it at the library. Although Leonardo da V
inci may be most famous for his art masterpieces like “Mona Lisa,” he
actually spent more time working on his scientific and technological studi
es. His remarkable sketchbooks have provided copious evidence that da Vinc
i envisioned many inventions long before the technology to create them exi
sted. A true visionary and one of the most prolific inventors in histor
y, Leonardo da Vinci created inventions and innovations that are taken for
granted today. Whether designing flying machines or weapons of war, da
Vinci the inventor and artist was always willing to “think outside the b
ox” and "dream big.” Led by Dr. Bill Thierfelder, a retired coll
ege professor who taught a variety of Arts and Humanities courses for 32 y
ears at several New York universities and colleges, including St. John&#03
9;s University and Dowling College. He holds a Ph.D. in English, with mino
rs in theater, art history and music history.Like all Southbury Public Lib
rary programs, this event is free to attend and open to anyone regardless
of town of residency. Registration is required. This program is sponsored
by the Friends of the Southbury Library. For more information about this p
