 ived in New England in the 17th century or the 21st century, this Â presen
 tation will give you the basic information to beginâ€”and advanceâ€”your r
 esearch into Â New England records. In preparation for the release of the 
 Sixth Edition of Genealogistâ€™s Â Handbook for New England Research, this
  presentation will give you the basic historical Â context, general organi
 zation of records, go-to resources, and unique strategies that will give Â
  you a good foundation to succeed in tracing your New England ancestors. N
 OTE: New Â England includes the present-day states of Connecticut, Maine, 
 Massachusetts, New Â Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.Â David Allen La
 mbert, Chief Genealogist has been on the staff of American Ancestors/NEHGS
  Â since 1993 and is an internationally recognized speaker on the topics o
 f genealogy and Â history. He has authored many articles in the New Englan
 d Historical and Genealogical Register, Â the New Hampshire Genealogical R
 ecord, Rhode Island Roots, Mayflower Descendant, Â and American Ancestors 
 magazine; and is the author of eleven books including A Guide to Â Massach
 usetts Cemeteries and Vital Records of Stoughton, Massachusetts, to the en
 d of the year Â 1850. David is an elected Fellow of the Massachusetts Hist
 orical Society in Boston, Mass., and a Â life member of the New Hampshire 
 Society of the Cincinnati and the General Society of the Â War of 1812. Da
 vid also serves as the tribal genealogist for the Massachusett Tribe Â at 
 Punkapoag in Massachusetts. His areas of expertise include New England and
  Atlantic Â Canadian records of the 17th through 21st century; American an
 d international militaryÂ records; DNA research; and Native American and A
 frican American genealogical research in Â New England.Â Like all Southbur
 y Public Library programs, this event is free to attend and open to anyone
  regardless of town of residency. Registration is required.Â This program
