Artist Steve Parlato presents works from his They Are Not Disposable series, the powerful art that inspired Not Disposable: The Play. Audiences will experience live spoken word performance excerpts by one of the producers MayaRose of Spoken Word, along with original poetry by local artists within the cast, bringing the artwork and its themes to life.

This immersive Theatre Artivism event explores racial injustice, police brutality, and moral responsibility through performance, spoken word, and visual art. The event concludes with a moderated panel and community dialogue examining art as activism and how creative expression can inspire understanding, conversation, and collective action for social change.

Like all Southbury Public Library programs, this event is free to attend and open to anyone regardless of town of residency. Registration is required through SACA's website. This program is sponsored by Southbury Arts and Culture Alliance.  For more information about this program, please email Rebecca at rrandall@biblio.org or call the reference desk at 203-262-0626 ext 130.
