Museum Passes

Even though many museums and parks are closed, we encourage you to visit their websites and enjoy their digital offerings.

The following museum passes are currently unavailable for circulation due to museum closings/restrictions:

  • American Museum of Natural History 
  • Imagine Nation Museum
  • Mystic Aquarium
  • Peabody Museum

Previously closed museums that have reopened include:

  • Stepping Stones Museum - November 2021
  • Discovery Museum - renamed Sacred Heart University Discovery Science Center and Planetarium reopened & reissued library passes October 1, 2021
  • Connecticut Old State House reopened & reissued library passes August 27, 2021
  • The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art reopened on March 11, 2021
  • The Harriet Beecher Stowe Center reopened on April 8, 2021
  • The Beardsley Zoo began honoring library passes again on April 10, 2021; their cost with the past has increased from $5.00/person to $9.00/person.
  • The Mark Twain House reopened on April 10, 2021 but is not yet taking passes.
  • The Wadsworth Atheneum is currently offering free admission as of May 2021; no pass is needed.
  • The New Haven Museum reopened May 1, 2021.
  • The State Parks began to open their DEEP museums, nature centers, and historic buildings starting on May 29, 2021.

Museum Passes are for Southbury residents and can be checked out for three (3) days. They are first-come, first-served and cannot be reserved. All passes are graciously donated by the Friends of the Southbury Public Library. A late fee of $2.00/day is charged.
