Program Description

Event Details

Housatonic Valley Health District with the Southbury Public Library will be hosting a Free Naloxone Training and Handout on April 8th! Naloxone, or Narcan, is a medicine that rapidly reverses an opioid overdose. It is the first line of defense when dealing with an overdose.

Narcan should be given to any person who shows signs of an opioid overdose or when an overdose is suspected. It will not harm the recipient even if they are not overdosing. Narcan is usually given as a nasal spray, it is administered by spraying the contents into one nostril while the person lays on their back.

To learn more about Narcan or to pick up a rescue kit stop by our table in the Southbury Public Library on April 8th anytime in between 12 and 3pm.

Like all Southbury Public Library programs, this event is free to attend and open to anyone regardless of town of residency.  This program is sponsored by Housatonic Valley Health District. For more information about this program, please email Rebecca at rrandall@biblio.org or call the reference desk at 203-262-0626 ext 2.
