Southbury Public Library is closed until further notice.

Thank you for your continued support and patience during this difficult time as we recover from extreme damage caused by the flooding on August 18th & 19th. Information on the library’s reopening will be provided when it is available.

The library’s book drop is closed. For now, hold all returns or return them to any other Connecticut library. Please do not leave returns in front of the library. All Southbury fines will be waived.

If you need assistance with anything related to your library card account, please call 203-262-0626 or email asksbylib@biblio.org.

Program Description

Event Details

Turn a selfie into a watercolor self-portrait, with all supplies provided! Artist Nancy Roman will be walking us through all the necessary steps (and it is easier than you think!). No experience required!

Selfies are great because there’s no pressure to please anyone else, but photos of loved ones are fine, too!

You will need a 5” x 7” photo of yourself (or a loved one). We can print it for you if you email it to our Teen Librarian Eli at ekelly@biblio.org. Because of the technique we will use to draw the portrait, your photo does have to be 5"x7" and printed out. If
you have a picture already printed but you don’t have that size, we can help you if you let us know in advance.

Space is limited and registration is required.

Nancy Roman is a local watercolor artist; last summer, she joined us for our DIY Watercolor Pet Portraits.

This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Southbury Public Library and is a part of our 2024 Teen Summer Reading Program: Read, Renew, Repeat. Find out more about our summer reading program here!
