This program will also be streamed to our Kingsley Room. Register here if you want to watch it at the library.

Waterbury was nicknamed the Brass City after becoming the center of America’s brass industry in the 1800s, but did you know that brass buttons started it all? Join us and learn about the history of Waterbury’s brass buttons and admire the intricate art of the buttons of the Waterbury Button Museum. You will even get the chance to see some of the buttons in the Button Museum's collection up close!

Elise Vanase is the Manager of Public Programs with the Mattatuck Museum. She comes from the Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry, having attended the University of Connecticut for a BFA in Puppet Arts. She's been with the museum for over six months now and has learned a lot about the area's history in her time here.

Like all Southbury Public Library programs, this event is free to attend and open to anyone regardless of town of residency. Registration is required. This program is sponsored by the Charles H. and Ella Emery Rutledge Fund.  For more information about this program, please email Rebecca at rrandall@biblio.org or call the reference desk at 203-262-0626 ext 130.
