From Abbott and Costello to Moneyball, baseball has been an integral part of American culture since the end of the Civil War. Even though baseball is not as popular as it once was, it’s influence can be found in surprising places. Join us for this fun and informative lecture to learn more about America's favorite pastime.

Evan Weiner began his career as a sports commentator at age 15, and continues to cover the politics and business of sports industries. He has appeared on MSNBC, NewsMax, ABC, and writes for The Guardian. He has written 8 books, hosts a daily podcast called “The Politics of Sports Business,” and is a frequent college speaker. In 2010 he won the Ronald Reagan Media Award from the United States Sports Academy.

Like all Southbury Public Library programs, this event is free to attend and open to anyone regardless of town of residency. Registration is required. This program is run by library staff.
