Program Description

Event Details

The Christmas we now know began as a pagan observance of the winter solstice, and was known as a day of raucous celebration and debauchery. As communities assimilated into Christianity, it became a day to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ - though the debauchery continued. Join us to learn about how Christmas has evolved from a bawdy party to a family holiday.

Mark Albertson is the historical research editor for the Army Aviation magazine, and the historian for the Army Aviation Association of America. He has taught classes on military history at Norwalk Community College as well as the Lifetime Learners Institute. Albertson has authored several books on military history.
