Program Description

Event Details

Lucille Ball was more than just the Queen of television comedy, she was an actress, stage and screen, and a model prior to acting; she was a television innovator, together with her husband Desi Arnaz.  She will be the first female CEO of a Hollywood production studio, Desilu Productions.  This studio produced some standout shows as The Untouchables, with Robert Stack; Star Trek; Mission Impossible, and of course, I Love Lucy and The Lucy Show.  Many other television shows used Desilu Studios, Andy Griffith Show, Dick van Dyke Show, Hogan's Heroes, just to name a few.  But it is as "Lucy" by which Lucille Ball captured the hearts of millions of fans.  Her and Desi, together with Jackie Gleason, helped to pioneer the three-camera system for television viewing, lending for clearer viewing for the audience.  Lucy also holds the record for appearances on the cover of TV Guide . . . 39.  Lucille Ball set the stage for female television comedians, such as Carole Burnett.  There will never be another like Lucille Ball.

Mark Albertson is the historical research editor for the Army Aviation magazine, and the historian for the Army Aviation Association of America. He has taught classes on military history at Norwalk Community College as well as the Lifetime Learners Institute. Albertson has authored several books on military history.
