Sunday, May 19: 2-4pm Friends Half Price Sale Volunteering

Please fill out this form if you are interested in volunteering with the Friends of the Southbury Public Library during their Half Price Book Sale on Sunday, May 5 from 2-4pm (please see here for 12-2pm). We are looking for volunteers ages 12 and older who are in Grades 6-12. Because these volunteer positions involve greeting guests at the sale and directing people around the sale, volunteers must be outgoing and comfortable greeting and talking to strangers. You would be helping to:

  • Greet people as they enter the book sale, handing them maps and directing them in the right direction
  • Provide in-stacks help to patrons browsing the sale, such as providing a bag or box if they are carrying many items or directing them towards a section they are interested in.
  • Move large boxes and/or carts of purchases to help patrons get them to their cars (in pairs)

You may be working solo, in a group with other volunteers/Friends of the Library, or in pairs.

Please wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes.

Volunteer Hour Forms:

  • For paper forms, please bring any forms you need signed with you.
  • For virtual forms, please use the Southbury Public Library's Teen Librarian, Eli Kelly, as your verification person. Email: ekelly@biblio.org

This form closes when we receive 10 sign ups, after which a waitlist form will be made available. If at any point after registration you realize you cannot attend, please email our Teen Librarian Eli at ekelly@biblio.org so we can open a volunteering spot for someone else.

We will email you at the address you provide to confirm that you are still coming and to give more instructions about where to go and who to ask for when you get to the library.
