Scavenger Hunt: Now through August 15!

Find 1 (or all 12) games hidden throughout Southbury. For every game you find, get a chance to win a $75 Amazon Gift Card! Find all 12 and get a special compass charm for your Read-for-Beads necklace or keychain!
Each Scavenger Hunt clue will lead you to a location; once at that location, find the game and enter it into the corresponding Activity Badge in the Scavenger Hunt Challenge on Beanstack.
Scavenger Hunt Clues:
- Don’t dial into FM to find this one-of-a-kind café.
- You don’t have to be Shakespeare to find a sweet treat here.
- Its bulldog mascot could help you sniff out this spot where it’s hip to be Square.
- Beyond fully booked? Have some to spare?
- When we were younger, we were very small!
- Take an international trip at this location that opened in November 2024.
- 1969 brought humanity to the moon, and it also brought ways to travel to space and beyond to this building on Main Street South.
- Not your tablet or TV, this is a different place to see a stream.
- Get schooled in local history at this place that is just a quick shot away from the library. Note: the game for this location is on the side of this place, not near the entrance.
- Omelette you guess or hash out where this place is.
- Paws fur a moment to purrceive this next location.
- Look for a restaurant with neighbors that are hair raising, fully vetted, and a good fit.
Games can be found at businesses, nonprofits, and other locations throughout Southbury. They will be visible from outside, and posted in a door or window near the entrance of that location on a yellow 8.5x11” piece of paper.
Entries are given numbers just to distinguish one entry from another; numbers do NOT mean you have to solve clues in that order, nor do the numbers rank difficulty.
How hard the scavenger hunt is will be up to you. Find locations based off of the initial clues alone, or get hints beginning July 1. On July 22, you can get the names to locations (though you'll still have to visit them to find the game there). Hints and location names can be found in the individual Badge for each scavenger hunt entry; the links will update on the appropriate dates.
All submissions are due by 11:59pm Friday, August 15. As a part of our Children & Teen Summer Reading Program, this is open to residents of any town in Grades 1-12! To participate, you have to register for Summer Reading.
Sponsored by the Friends of the Southbury Public Library. We are also grateful to all the local organizations and businesses who partnered with us to serve as locations on our scavenger hunt.
