We've really missed having patrons in the library and are very excited to be sharing that we are reopening to the public starting Wednesday, July 22! In order to best serve you and other members of community while maintaining your safety and staff safety, some significant changes to our services, hours, and building capacity have been made. Please read on to see what changes are taking place.
The Staff of the Southbury Public Library
NEW SAFETY POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
HOURS & CAPACITY
Our hours have been changed to:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 9:30am-4:30pm
Tuesday, Thursday: 9:30am-6:30pm
Saturday, Sunday: Closed
In order to maintain social distancing, we are limiting patron capacity to 25 people at a time. Only the first floor will be open for book browsing; until further notice, all meeting rooms and the second floor are currently closed to the public.
While the second floor Youth Services department will remain closed at this time, children's and teen library materials can be requested from home via our catalog here for convenient pick up as hold items at the First Floor Circulation Desk.
When visiting, please plan for short visits no longer than 30 minutes. Whenever possible, please limit visits to only one member of your family/household at a time. Hand sanitizer will be provided at the Main Entrance and at other popular locations including the checkout desk, and we encourage patrons to wash their hands in the restroom.
Please stop at the greeter station by the main entrance upon your arrival.
FACE MASKS & SOCIAL DISTANCING
For everyone’s safety and protection, we ask that you wear a mask at all times. If you don’t have one, we can provide you with one. Please follow the directional arrows on the floor and maintain a social distance of 6 feet at all times. Wherever possible, please visit with one member of your family/household at a time.
BORROWING & RETURNING ITEMS
The indoor book return is currently closed. Please return all materials in the outside book return. Upon return, all materials will be quarantined for 72 hours. You may place items on hold from home online or via phone. You may browse the shelves for items. Lingering is not encouraged. Our pickup window is now closed. If you had a pickup appointment, your items will be available for pickup at our circulation desk. If you don’t feel comfortable entering the building at this time, please call our Reference Desk at 203-262-0626 ext. 130 to arrange an alternative.
All DVD check out times have been changed to two weeks.
COMPUTERS, SCANNING, & PRINTING
Public computer use is limited to one 30 minute session per person per day on any of our four available computers. Computers will be available from the time we open until 30 minutes before we close, so they will be available from 9:30am-4:00pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and from 9:30am-6:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Reference staff are unable to provide assistance with the public computers due to social distancing guidelines. The printer, copier, and scanner are primarily self-service and each patron is limited to one 15 minute session per day. We ask that you review our guidelines and how-to guides before getting in line.
Faxing is currently unavailable. Please call the Reference Desk at 203-262-0626 ext. 130 for alternative solutions.
