July Events at the Southbury Public Library

Hello, Friends!

Happy July! Our summer hours begin this month, so we'll be closed on Sundays now through Labor Day Weekend. We will also be closed Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. There may be times we have to reduce our services to holds pick up only or fully close depending on outside events at the Heritage Hotel. We will post all changes to our hours and services on our website.

American Red Cross Blood Drive at Heritage Hotel

The Heritage Hotel is hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., and Monday, April 14, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Blood donation is the most common type of donation, during which approximately a pint of 'whole blood' is given. This type of blood donation usually takes about an hour.

Happy New Year!

Thank you for your continued support and patience during this difficult time as we recover from extreme damage caused by the flooding on August 18 and 19, 2024. We are excited to announce that the Southbury Public Library will be opening a temporary storefront within the Heritage Hotel Golf, Spa & Conference Center, located at 522 Heritage Road, Southbury, CT! The opening of this temporary storefront and its hours of operation are still to be determined.

Online Library Card Applications

Fill out an online library card application, and pick up your library card during certain off-site events! You can use your card for any of our online resources, or at any other public library in Connecticut. Once you fill out the form, you will get an email when your card is ready, with information about how to get started with online resources right away and how to pick up your physical card. When you do pick up your card, we will need to verify your Southbury address with a piece of mail, updated license, or anything else with your name and address on it.

Flood Recovery Updates

Greetings! We want to update the public on the status of the Southbury Public Library. 

The basement is currently being cleaned out professionally. This is a huge undertaking and requires time and patience in order to mitigate health and safety concerns. The main floors of the library proper are secure and undamaged by flood waters. With the safety of our collection in mind, provisions are in place to moderate temperature and humidity in the building. Once the basement is clear, we can assess all the systems necessary for the building to function properly.
